Replacing Extension Lever For Folding Sunroof

Release cover at rear:
Measure gap (A) on closed folding sunroof and note down (required for installation).
(1) Rear cover
(2) Edge of roof
Dimension (A) = approx. 6.5 mm







Completely remove mucket from headliner.

Installation:
Assembly sequence for mucket:
- Attach at center rear (marking)
- Attach at center right (marking)
- Attach at center left (marking)
- Attach at center front (marking)
- Attach remaining mucket uniformly







Open folding sunroof approx. 150 mm.
Disconnect wire from back of headliner and disconnect from profile rail and corner sections.







Installation:
Insert wire (1) in corner sections (2) then insert in profile rail (3).
Before closing, first fit mucket to headliner.







Unscrew nuts.
Completely close complete sunroof.
Press cover upwards (back of cover loose for disassembly).







Pull rear cover (1) forwards over stud bolts.

Release cover at rear:
Folding sunroof must be open approx. 150 mm.
Pull mucket of headliner off using front cover.







Build status up to 7/96:
Unfasten left/right screw (1) (limit stops).
Slide upper section (3) to one side, rotate through 90 clamping section (2).







Build status from 7/96:
Compress left/right limit stop (1) on the recess with plier tips (2) and remove.







Lift out left/right gate plate cover (1), slide inwards and pull out through assembly aperture (2).







Completely close folding sunroof (1) with motor or emergency actuating unit (winder in trunk) until fulcrum pads (2) are in assembly aperture (3).







CAUTION!
Version with net wind deflector:
While removing front cover (1), press down net wind deflector (2) on left/right (risk of damage).







Raise front cover with a 2nd person, lift our of sliding blocks and pull forwards/upwards until release lever (1) is above assembly opening (2) in U-frame.
Fold front cover backwards.

Only for replacement of release lever or cover:
Version without net wind deflector:
Unfasten screws and remove release lever (1).

Installation:
Insert screws with Loctite 242 (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service).

Tightening Torque = 3.5 Nm

If applicable, loosen release lever and adjust.
Check function.







Version with net wind deflector:
Release screws (1) (countersunk) and remove release lever (2).

Installation:
Insert screws with Loctite 242 (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service).

Tightening Torque = 3.5 Nm

If applicable, loosen release lever and adjust.
Check function.
