Removal and Installation

Remove or replacing control unit





The control unit for EGS is located in the engine compartment on the right-hand side wall.
Raise engine hood.
Interrogate and print fault memory prior to removal.
Remove battery.





Version with insulating cover: Unscrew insulating cover from separating wall.





Unscrew cover.





BMW 316i and 318i:
The DME control unit (1) must first be pulled out of the holder from underneath to be able to remove the EGS control unit.





Press EGS control unit downwards off of spring retainers (1 and 2).





Pull out control unit forward through the opening.





Installation:
Place control unit on left and right rails and slide in inclined upwards as far as stop.
Swing up control unit in this position and engage in spring retainers (1 and 2).





Pull plug (1) off of control unit after swinging spring retainer (2) forward.

Caution: Always switch ignition off before disconnecting or connecting connector.
