Joint Disc For Propeller Shaft

Remove complete exhaust system.
E36 / S54 (Z3)
Remove catalytic converter with center muffler.





Remove heat shield (1).





Remove brackets (1 and 2) for exhaust suspension.
Remove bar (3).

Installation:
Install bar (3) with long collar (4) towards front.





Remove flexible disc from transmission.
Release screws.
For tightening torque, refer to Drive Propeller Shaft, Specifications.

Installation:
Replace self-locking nuts.
Only tighten screw connection by way of nut.





Version with slide:
Loosen screwed-on sleeve several turns using Special Tool 26 1 040.

Installation:
After installation, tighten threaded bush using Special Tool 26 1 040.
For tightening torque, refer to Drive Propeller Shaft, Specifications.





Press propeller shaft off guide pin on transmission.
Swing down front section of propeller shaft.





Unscrew joint disk.

Installation:
Replace self locking nuts.
For tightening torque, refer to Drive Propeller Shaft, Specifications.





Replace joint disk.

Caution: Joint disk must be installed in such a way that arrows point to flange arms.





Installation:
Check centering mount.
Replace a damaged centering mount.
Using suitable grease, lubricate centering mount.
