Version With Rear Constant-Velocity Joint
Remove propeller shaft - version with slideRemove complete exhaust system.
Remove heat shield (1).
Unscrew holders (1 and 2) for exhaust suspension.
Remove clamp (3).
Installation:
Install clamp (3) with long collar (4) at rear.
Version with joint disk, front:
Unscrew joint disk on transmission.
Installation:
Replace stop nuts.
Only tighten screw connection by way of nut.
To prevent subjecting flexible disk to torsion stress, turn nuts/screws on flange side.
Tightening Torque, Specifications
Remove constant-velocity joint from final drive.
Unscrew center bearing.
Installation:
- Preload center bearing in direction of travel to dimension (A) 2-4mm.
- Tightening Torque: 21 Nm
Caution! Do not let propeller shaft fall into joints. In particular, on constant-velocity joint, rubber collar can become squashed, or joints may be damaged.
Kink propeller shaft downwards on center mount and in so doing detach from centering pin on manual transmission or constant-velocity joint of final drive.
Note: Protect constant-velocity joint from dirt with transport cap or similar item.
Installation:
Top up grease fill.
Pull out constant-velocity joint (1) to limit position.
Coat sealing faces of constant-velocity joint and input flange with grease.
Replace seal (2).
Use new nuts.
Fit propeller shaft with disconnected constant-velocity joint to input flange on the final drive.
Caution! The constant-velocity joint must not be compressed during assembly because the grease fill can force away the sealing ring, leading to leakage from the constant-velocity joint.
By alternately tighten 2 opposing nuts, draw constant-velocity joint uniformly into the input flange.
Then tighten down the remaining nuts.
