Replacing radial oil seal for output flange
Remove propeller shaft, refer to Drive/Propeller Shafts, Bearings and Joints.
The output flange can no longer be removed from the outside.
Transmission extension has to be removed for removal of output flange.
Caution: Until the design change comes into effect, the oil sump must be removed in order to detach the transmission extension and special tool 24 1 210 must be used for this; if not, the clutch discs from multi-disc clutch F will slip out.
Because of this it is necessary to disassemble the transmission, refer to Clutch A/T for "Replacing multi-disc clutch F.
The need to use this special tool for removing the oil sump ceases to apply with effect from transmission number: 112300
To attach special tool 24 1 210:
Remove oil pan, refer to Transmission Pan, Service and Repair.
Unscrew cover (1) from valve body.
Installation:
Tightening torque, refer to Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Specifications
Prevent axial displacement by inserting special tool 24 1 210 between parking interlock gear and case.
Plates could slide out during removal of the transmission extension.
Unscrew bolt on valve body.
Insert special tool 24 1 210 between the parking position gear and the casing and secure with bolt (1).
Both versions:
Unscrew cross member from body and transmission extension.
Unscrew bolts.
Installation:
Install guide (1) for cable holder.
Tightening torque, refer to Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Specifications.
Pull off transmission extension.
Note spacer (1).
Replace O-Ring (2).
Knock back lock of slotted nut.
Clamp special tool 24 1 220 in a vise.
Insert the transmission extension with the output flange into special tool 24 1 220.
Unscrew the slotted nut (1) using special tool 24 1 170.
Installation:
For tightening torque, refer to Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Specifications.
Remove the transmission extension from special tool 2 1220.
Pull output flange out of bearings.
Lever out the radial oil seal (1).
Installation:
Drive in a new radial oil seal (1) using special tool 24 1 190 in conjunction with handle 00 5 500 so that it is flush.
