Oil Change In Automatic Transmission

Oil change in automatic transmission (A5S 310Z)

Note:
- Transmission at operating temperature.
- The vehicle must be on level ground.
- Apply parking brake.


Version with dipstick:



Tilt handle and remove dipstick.




Remove drain plug (1).

Installation:
Replace sealing ring.
Tightening torque: 16 Nm (11.5 ft lb)




With special tool 24 0 080 top up with automatic transmission fluid.

Query transmission oil temperature with MoDiG or BMW Service Tester.

Note: Never wipe off oil dipstick with a cioth which loses lint.

Start engine.

Apply brake and run through all driving stages several times in neutral.

Move selector lever into position "P".




Determine oil level (H) with dipstick.

Using following table, correct oil level by draining or topping up.





Version without dipstick:



Unfasten filler screw (2).

Installation:
Replace sealing ring.
Tightening torque: 100 Nm (74 ft lb)

With engine stationary, fill transmission with oil until it overflows.

Start engine.

Shift lever into position "P".

Switch of driving lights (raised idle).

Top up automatic transmission until it overflows.

Screw in filler screw (2).

Operate brake and change up and down all gears at idle speed.

Connect BMW Diagnosis and Information System (DIS) and/or BMW MoDiC to vehicle and perform oil level check in accordance with instructions.
