SUBJECT:
Ordering the On-Board Navigation Map CD Software

MODEL:
3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, Z3 and X5 Navigation System equipped vehicles

Situation:
The BMW Factory On-Board Navigation System will be standard on 2000 model year 7 series vehicles, and an option on all 3, 5 and X5 vehicles. Accessory Navigation Systems are also available on 3 series, E36 and E46, 5 series and Z3 vehicles. The Navigation system found in these vehicles uses CD-ROMs to hold the digitized road map data. The Continental United States is broken down onto or 8 individual map CDs depending on the type of NAV system. Due to the number of CD possibilities per area, vehicles equipped with the BMW On-Board Navigation system will not be delivered to BMW centers with Map CDs. It will be the center's responsibility to order and deliver map software for these vehicles.

All Map CDs for VDO NAV systems now contain an additional feature called Route USA. RouteUSA contains the U.S. Interstate Highway Network which allows routing across the United States using any one disc. For detailed coverage of a particular city/area, the proper regional Map CD is still necessary.

When a customer purchases a vehicle with the BMW On-Board or accessory Navigation System, the Sales Person must ask the customer which map area(s) he/she would like.

NOTE:
The Sales Person will need to supply the Parts Manager with the customer's name, address, and phone number. The Parts Manager would then fill out the order form and FAX it to (888) 329-4223, 3-5 days before the car is be delivered. Map CDs ordered in this fashion would then be shipped FedEx two-day delivery to the center. There will be no cost to the center associated with the process described above. If the center wants to have the map CDs shipped Fed Ex overnight, there will be a charge of $20.00 for the service. BMW centers are responsible for giving the map CD to the customer at final delivery.

Approximately six months after the car has been delivered, the customer will receive updated map CDs for their BMW Navigation system. These map CDs will be shipped directly to the home of the BMW Navigation customer.

If your customer wishes to purchase additional area map CDs, please refer the to the NavTech order line 1-888-NAV-MAPS (1-888-628-6277). Please inform your customer that they must have the Vehicle Identification Number and credit card number ready when ordering.

They will also be asked for their name, address, and phone number as well. NavTech will ship all additional map CDs directly to the customer's home. Please do NOT stock extra map CDs. Map software for the BMW On-Board Navigation System is only current for a six-month period. BMW wants our customers to have the latest map software possible.

All additional map CDs ordered by the customer are for a full year subscription, i.e. the additional order plus one update shipped approximately six months after that order at no additional cost to the customer.

Map CD Information Packet:
NavTech will supply all BMW centers with a new Map CD Information packet containing:

1) Two (2) demo Map CDs for your region. (Retain map CDs at your center).

2) Fifteen (15) Map CD Sales and Ordering Information Brochures.

3) Twenty Five (25) Map CD coverage area Brochures.

4) Two (2) pads containing fifty (50) tear oft sheets each of Map CD order form for VDO and Siemens Nav Systems.
