Removing and Installing Power Steering Gear
Removing and installing power steering gear
Caution:
After assembly, align front axle, refer to Alignment.
Removing front wheels, refer to Wheels.
Removing steering wheel.
Draw hydraulic fluid out of tank and do not re-use.
Installation:
Bleeding power steering unit, refer to Steering, Service and Repair.
Remove left and right track rod with special tool 32 2 070.
Installation:
Replace self-locking nuts.
Tightening torque, refer to Tie Rod End, Specifications.
Disconnect hose on tank.
Unscrew hollow union bolt.
Installation:
Replace sealing rings.
Install line with rubber grommet in bracket.
Tightening torque, refer to Specifications.
Remove bolt and separate universal joint from steering gear.
Installation:
Note position of steering spindle, refer to Steering Shaft.
Unscrew bolts and take off steering gear in forward direction.
Installation:
Replace self-locking nuts.
Tightening torque, refer to Specifications.
