Removing and Installing Complete Steering Gear


Removing and installing complete steering gear

Caution:
After assembly, adjust front axle, refer to Alignment.
Removing front wheels, refer to Wheels.
Removing steering wheel, refer to Steering Wheel.





Remove left and right track rods with special tool 32 2 070.

Installation note:
Replace self-locking nuts.
Tightening torque, refer to Specifications.





Remove clamping screw and pull universal joint off steering gear.





Installation note:
Set steering gear to straight-ahead position (marking on case).
Turn steering spindle until bolt (1) of upper universal joint is vertical. Place lower universal joint on steering gear. Bolt must be located in groove of steering-gear spindle. Replace self-locking nut. Tightening torque, refer to Specifications.





Unscrew bolts and take off steering gear in forward direction.

Installation note:
Replace self-locking nuts.
Tightening torque, refer to Specifications.
