Replacing Carbon Brushes (Starter Motor With Countershaft)

NOTE: Starter motor countershaft dismantled





- Precision-grind collector and polish.
- File away or mill out insulation between the collector discs to depth of 0.5 - 0.7 mm.
- After machining, check that windings are secure.




- Slide carbon brush holder towards contra and lift up.




- Fully engage hooks on carbon brush holder.




- The strands of two carbon brushes must be separated.
- Solder in new carbon brushes.
