ZCS Identification/Display
ZCS Identification/Display
The ZCS is displayed as follows:
- Electronically displayed by the DIS or MoDiC
- It can be read from the ZCS printout label.
The ZCS is displayed in either the DIS or MoDiC.
This screen is accessible from the opening ZCS choice menu, "3 Display coding code and code for printout".
The ZCS printout label is affixed to the vehicle. The location varies depending on the car. The locations are as follows:
- E36 = Under rear seat - center area or next to left sending unit of fuel tank.
Z3 roadster = In E-Box cover.
- E31/32/34 = In fuse box cover.
- E38 = In E-Box cover.
- E39 = In trunk above battery on a support bracket by the rear fuse box.
Older vehicles will have identification labels containing the AM segment.
In its original form the ZCS was displayed as a 48 digit code containing a fourth segment, the AM, for German word, Antriebsmanagement meaning Powertrain management.
The AM segment was recently removed from the display and printouts to further simplify encoding procedures. It is unnecessary until a DME or AGS/EGS control module becomes ZCS encodable.
In service documentation the ZCS may still be called the 48 digit code.
