Valve: Service and Repair

(cylinder head removed)
Preliminary work is described in section on dismantling and assembling the cylinder head, refer to Cylinder Head Assembly, Service and Repair.
Replacing valve stem seals, refer to Valve Seal, Service and Repair.
Remove valves from cylinder head.
If necessary, check valve guide for wear, refer to Valve Guide, Testing and Inspection, Procedure.
If necessary, ream the valve guide, refer to Valve Guide, Service and Repair.
If necessary, rework valve seat, refer to Valve Seat, Service and Repair.

1. Valve
2. Valve-stem seal
3. Lower plate spring
4. Valve spring
5. Upper plate spring
6. Valve tapers
