ABS Only


- After finishing work:
Bleed complete brake system. Service and Repair
When performing function check of hydraulic unit, first refer to Testing and Inspection.

Procedure
- Switch off ignition.
- Disconnect battery ground wire.
- Remove master brake cylinder, refer to Replacement. Service and Repair





- To improve access, pull diagnosis connector and plug connection on engine wiring harness out of brackets and place to one side.





- Disconnect brake lines (V - H) between master brake cylinder and hydraulic control unit.
To unfasten the 11 mm dia. connections on the hydraulic control unit, use special tool 34 3 171
Seal connections immediately.

CAUTION: Do not interchange brake lines; mark before removal if necessary.

Line (V) from THZ circuit V to hydraulic control unit circuit (front-axle circuit)
Line (H) from THZ circuit H to hydraulic control unit circuit (rear-axle circuit)
- Installation:
Note tightening torque, refer to Tightening. Specifications





- Disconnect brake lines (FL, FR, RA) on hydraulic control unit.
To unfasten the 12 mm dia. connections on the hydraulic control unit, use special tool 34 3 172.
Seal connections immediately.

CAUTION: Do not interchange brake lines; mark before removal if necessary.

Line (FR) from hydraulic control unit FR to front right wheel brake
Line (FL) from hydraulic control unit FL to front left wheel brake
Line (RA) from hydraulic control unit RA to rear-axle wheel brake
- Installation:
Note tightening torque, refer to Tightening. Specifications





- Unlock connector (1) and remove from control unit.
- Installation:
Ensure that connector is located perfectly then slide locking unit completely downwards.





- Unfasten bolt (1) and thread out hydraulic control unit upward.
When doing so simply lay brake lines aside, but never bend them.
