TROUBLESHOOTING CONVERTIBLE (TRUNK LID/CONVERTIBLE TOP, ELECTRIC MOTOR/FULLY-AUTOMATIC):

FAULT: EM-convertible top (fully- automatic) fails to open or close:

CAUSE: REMEDY:
a) Battery voltage is < 10.5 V a) Charge battery,
let engine run
b) Terminal "R" not switched on b) Switch on terminal "R",
check fuse terminal "R".
c) Vehicle rolls> 5 km/h c) Slow vehicle down
to complete standstill
d) Trunk lid opened d) Close trunk lid
e) Microswitch (S5) on trunk e) Refer to trunk lid lock
lid lock defective
f) Microswitch setting not O.K. f) Refer to Diagnosis
and Repair
g) Fuses defective g) Refer to fuse allocation diagram
h) Leads interrupted h) Refer to Diagnosis
i) Plug connections interrupted i) Repair plug connection
k) Control unit defective k) Refer to Diagnosis
l) Lock on convertible top not l) Engine (lock) defective
unlocked and raised over
dead center point

FAULT: Electrical convertible top fails to open or close:

CAUSE: REMEDY:
a) Battery voltage is < 10.5 V a) Charge battery,
let engine run
b) Terminal "R" not switched on b) Switch on terminal "R",
check fuse terminal "R"
c) Convertible top not unlocked c) Open convertible top
and raised over dead center point as per specification
d) Vehicle rolls> 5 km/h d) Slow vehicle down
to complete standstill
e) Trunk lid opened e) Close trunk lid
f) Microswitch (S5) on trunk f) Refer to trunk lid lock
lid lock defective
g) Microswitch setting not O.K. g) Refer to Diagnosis
and Repair

FAULT: Trunk lid fails to open

CAUSE: REMEDY:
a) Convertible top cover opened a) Close convertible top lid
b) Microswitch (S6) on trunk b) Refer to ZKE IV Diagnosis
lid lock right defective
c) Trunk lid lock on right side c) Refer to top lid locks
not correctly adjusted

NOTES:
Function of indicator lamp on convertible top operating switch.
Continuous light:
During opening and closing operation.
Intermittent light:
a) Convertible top operating switch is released during opening or closing operation.
b) Convertible top is closed but microswitch (S7) on left convertible top lock (locked) is defective
c) Convertible top is open but Hall sensor (HS) on convertible top motor is defective
