Replacing Finisher on Convertible Top Lock (Electric Motor/Fully-automatic)
Removing and installing / replacing finisher on convertible top lock (electric motor/fully-automatic)
Note:
- Open side windows.
- Extend convertible top beyond dead center point.
Version without handle recess:
Lift cover from bottom to top.
If there is an electrical fault:
Open the convertible top with double headed cap screw wrench (from toolbox) via screw (1).
Version without handle recess:
Unscrew bolt (2).
Version with handle recess (1):
Unscrew bolt (2).
Pull off left/right retaining pins (1). Lift out left/right clip (2).
Version without handle recess:
Remove finisher strip (3).
Version with handle recess:

Version with handle recess:
Unfasten left/right screws (1) and take off finisher strip.
Headliner to finisher strip (convertible top lock)
Tightening torque 1 Nm
Installation:
Install foam strips (1).
Only replace:
Version with handle recess:
- Remove plate (1).
- Install foam strips (2).
Repair solution with new finisher strip (with handle recess) on old soft top frames (without handle recess):

Note:
Only pull off the headliner in the area of the retaining bracket (1) (do not pull out of the locks).
Installing the retaining bracket (1):
- Center retaining bracket (1) on old finisher strip mounting (2) and mark at bottom (3).
- Secure with pliers (4) if necessary.
Mark the area of the retaining bracket (1) and cut out the retaining tab (2) for the convertible cover.
Secure retaining bracket (1) with pliers (2).
Mark the holes (4) in the center of the flange (3), punch and drill holes with a 5 mm dia.
Mount retaining bracket (1) with bolts and nuts (2). Push on sheet metal nut (3).
Converting the headliner:
Mark the headliner in the area or the retaining bracket (2).
Only pull off the headliner in the area of the retaining bracket (2) (do not pull out of the locks).
Apply fabric adhesive tape (3) with a length of 160 mm to the top and underside of the headliner and press on firmly (remains in the vehicle).
Cut out the piping (1) of the headliner plus 10 mm with a pair of snippers.
Protect the cut-out area (4) against unraveling by applying fabric adhesive tape and pressing on firmly (also remains in the vehicle)
Press on headliner (1).
Do not pull off fabric adhesive tape (2) (remains in the vehicle).
