Convertible Top Deck Lid: Adjustments

ADJUSTING ELECTRIC DRIVE FOR CONVERTIBLE TOP LID:

Note: Remove left luggage compartment trim.

Requirements: Soft top lid correctly installed and adjusted, drive units not disconnected. Bowden cables adjusted.

Adjust convertible top lid drive unit:




- Unscrew the strikers (1) fully only after straightening work.




- Remove tab washer (1) and disconnect convertible top lid drive rod (2) from engine.
- Close luggage compartment lid.




- Press convertible top actuating switch in "Close" direction until the clamping bracket is upright, continue to press for a further 3 seconds, then open convertible top lid by hand. Continue to press switch, the convertible top flap motor continues running. Keep convertible top actuating switch depressed until the clamping bracket starts to move again.




- Check block setting of convertible top lid locks. If it is possible to press them down, loosen the nuts (1) and adjust the Bowden cables until a secure block setting is achieved.

NOTE: Only on right side: Pretension Bowden cable by another 2... 3 turns.




- Press convertible top actuating switch in "Open" direction and continue to depress until clamping bracket starts to move again.




- Locate convertible top lid in locks and close convertible top using motors.




- Install convertible top lid drive linkages (2) in luggage compartment lid without any distortion.
- If this is not possible, loosen nuts and slide convertible top lid motor until it is possible to install drive linkages (2) without any distortion.
- Fit tab washer (1) and tighten nuts.

Adjusting height of convertible top lid:




- The convertible top is stowed in the convertible-top box.
- Open convertible top lid using motor.
- Clamping brackets (1) on convertible top lid serve to adjust height.
- Unscrew these completely for the basic setting.




- Close convertible top lid using motors until the clamping bracket starts to move.
- Determine difference in height between front of convertible top compartment cover and side panels on left and right sides.




- Open convertible top lid and rotate clamping bracket (1) to left and right by the amount determined.
- Check function.
