Replacing two rubber mounts for rear axle carrier (rubber mounts, front)
Caution: After completion of work, perform chassis alignment check, refer to Wheels, Tires and Alignment. Service and Repair





Unfastening propeller shaft from final drive, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
Unfasten retaining bracket for hand-brake cables.
Remove cable plug (brake lining wear indicator/ABS sensor) from the protective housings on the rear axle carrier and isolate.
Pull off speedometer signal plug.





Take up rear axle with special tool 33 4 390.





Unfasten screws.

Installation:
Tightening Torque, refer to Crossmember, Rear. Specifications

Note: Damaged threads in bushes on body side can be repaired with Helicoil thread inserts M 12 X 1.5 X 18. The Helicoil thread inserts must be fitted flush with the original thread.





Lower rear axle carrier until special tool 00 8 550/33 3 323/324 can be fitted.
Heat sleeve with a hot air blower. Do not point air jet at fuel tank.
Pull out rubber mount using special tool.

Installation:
Rubber mounts may only be installed in pairs of same make.





Coat new mount (1) with Circolight or equivalent.
Pull in mount with special tool 33 3 222/223/314/315.
Secure top of spindle with standard nut M 12 (2).
