Situation:
After fitting Alpine alarm kit, alarm siren is inoperative
Cause:
Relay K108 is factory installed in preparation for Alpine alarm installation. On some vehicles assembled from 10/97, the wrong relay has been installed, causing the siren to be inoperative.
Procedure:
Unclip lens from glove box light, and remove 10 mm glove box retaining bolt (1).
Remove glove box, following Repair Manual instructions 51 16 360
Remove K108 relay (1) and check part number.
Incorrect relay has P/N 61 36 1 388 910, and has five pins.
Correct relay has P/N 61 36 8 364 581 and has four pins.
If necessary, replace relay
Reinstall glove box, and glove box bolt.
