Adjusting Trunk Lid Lock (Sedan, Coupe and Convertible)
Requirement:
Trunk lid and gaskets must be correctly fitted and adjusted.
If necessary, adjust trunk lid to fit,
If necessary, lock ejectors in detent buffer:
Press ejector into detent buffer and, in this position, twist slightly to left with a Phillips screwdriver.
Turn detent buffer on left/right of trunk lid to insert.
Check fulcrum pads on lower section of trunk lid lock for damage and replace if necessary.
Loosen screws in lower section of trunk lid lock until it is just able to move and centers itself.
The lower section of the trunk lid lock must not scrape against trunk lid lock.
Adjust lower section of trunk lid lock:
Close trunk lid, holding down the lock button to prevent the trunk lid lock from engaging.
This enables lower section of trunk lid lock to adjust itself correctly.
Open trunk lid.
Tighten screws on lower section of trunk lid lock.
Check adjustment of trunk lid and trunk lid lock, repeating adjustment if necessary.
Unscrew detent buffer until locked trunk lid lies flush on left/right detent buffers.
CAUTION!
The trunk lid must not be higher than the side panels, otherwise there is preload on height adjustment!
Turn the ejectors in the detent buffers gently to the right with a Phillips screwdriver. This unlocks the detent buffers and enables them to retract.
