Muffler: Service and Repair
Flange connection without compression spring
Loosen the flanged joint.
Separate exhaust.
Installation:
Replace screws and nuts.
Align the flanged joint.
Note: Sealing taper is produced by upset pipe.
Installation:
Lubricate flanged joint lightly with copper paste.
urn flanges until maximum possible ground clearance is provided.
Align the flanges parallel to each another.
Align the exhaust system and insert the screws.
Flange connection with compression spring
Loosen the flanged joint.
Separate exhaust.
Installation:
Replace screws and nuts.
The screw heads must be located on the side of the compression spring.
Align the flanged joint.
Note: Sealing taper is produced by upset pipe.
Installation:
Lubricate flanged joint lightly with copper paste.
Turn flanges until maximum possible ground clearance is provided.
Align the flanges parallel to each another.
Align the exhaust system and insert the screws.
Caution: Do not apply preload to compression springs on block.
Apply preload of measurement A to compression spring.
Tightening torque, refer to Exhaust System, Specifications, Mechanical.

If necessary, disconnect rubber ring on rear-axle carrier.
Rear muffler with bracket
Disconnect the rear retaining bracket on left and right sides.
Take off the final muffler downwards and back.
Installation:
Check the rubber mount for damage and replace if necessary. Preload rubber mount in forwards driving direction by distance A 15 mm.
Rear muffler with clamp
Note:
Loosen the collar nut with the clamp on the final muffler.
Take off the final muffler downwards and back.
Installation:
Tightening torque, refer to Exhaust System, Specifications, Mechanical.

Installation:
Check the position of the end pipe to the body-cutout.
Tighten down all screw connections.
