Seat Belt Tensioner: Service and Repair



Deactivating Belt-Lock Tightener






CAUTION: Conform with national accident-prevention regulations.
Belt-lock tightener is "activated" when distance (A) is > 100 mm.





- Clamp belt-lock tightener in a vice at point where it is bolted to seat. Belt whip must be horizontal.
- Pull locking cable out as far as stop and hold it in place with pliers.





- Turn screw (1) until green mark (2) appears in the window = belt-lock tightener activated.


WARNING: Keep hands away from belt-lock tightener during deactivation, Risk of Injury.





- Apply a firm knock from fin of a hammer weighing 500 gr. to belt-lock tightener in zone (A). This will loosen belt-lock tightener.





- Belt lock must face away from body of mechanic.


WARNING: In interests of safety, persons who have to be on belt-lock side must stand at least 3 meters away.





- Deactivation will cause the belt lock to be pulled back suddenly into its housing by a distance (A) of approx. 55 mm.
