Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable: Service and Repair

CAUTION:
- Comply with safety precautions!
- Incorrect handling can activate airbag and result in injury.
- Steering wheel removed.





- Lift out lock (1) with a screwdriver.

Installation Note:
- Insert spring (2) in bore and connect lock.
- Press down on lock until it engages.





- Disconnect connector.
- Unscrew nuts (1) and take off contact ring.

Installation Note:
- Guide horn wires through square opening. Lock nuts with varnish.





CAUTION: A new contact ring is arrested in center position with a screw. This screw must be removed after contact ring has been screwed to steering wheel.





- Remove cover.
- Unfasten grounding cable.





- Unfasten screws and remove contact ring.

CAUTION: Do not remove locking device (1) until contact ring is screwed to steering wheel. Press both ends together and remove locking device (1).
