Controller Area Network (CAN) Line

The EGS control module communicates with the MS41.1 Control Module over the CAN line. The following data are transferred over the CAN line:
- Throttle position
- Engine load (ti)
- Engine temperature
- Engine RPM
- Gear selector position
- Timing retard (shift intervention)
- Torque converter lock up

Emission related faults from the EGS will be transmitted over the CAN line which allows the MS41.1 Control Module to activate the Check Engine Lamp when the illumination criteria is satisfied.

Faults with the CAN line will also be stored and cause the Check Engine Lamp to illuminate.
