Ignition Coil: Service and Repair

- Switch off ignition.




- Open lock on plug-in connection.
- Pull off connectors.




- Unfasten screws.
- Pull out ignition coil.

Installation Note: A ground strap (1) must be attached to the cylinder head cover mounting and to the ignition coil for cylinders 1 and 6.

On metal covers:

- Secure ground strap from cable duct on cylinder head cover bracket between cylinders 2 and 3.




Installation Note:
With plastic cover:

- Ground strap (1) on cable duct must be screwed to connecting plate (2) on ignition coils.
- Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit, check faults in memory, rectify faults and clear fault memory.
