SUPPLY OF REPLACEMENT PARTS

Due to more stringent demands for vehicle security, the sale of security-related parts of the EWS II system is subject to special control procedures.

For security reasons, the supply of EWS II components requiring initialization is only carded out from the Central Parts Warehouse in Dingolfing and through the Parts Department of BMW NA.

A further measure to dissuade people from stealing BMW vehicles is to prohibit the sale of security-relevant EWS II components to private customers over the counter.

Permission to install these parts is exclusively granted worldwide to authorized BMW workshops only.

A note to this effect is attached to all packaging.

The following EWS II components are available as spare parts from the Parts Department of BMW NA:

^ Transponder key, already fully initialized

^ EWS control module, fully initialized

^ Complete one-key system fully initialized

^ Lock cylinder coded (mechanically) to existing key

^ Lock cylinder coded to existing key code or with arbitrary key encoding, including keys without transponder for doors, glove compartment and tailgate

^ Transceiver module

^ Ring antenna on steering wheel lock

The part numbers are contained in the electronic parts catalog (ETK) and/or the parts microfiche.

ACQUISITION AFTER LOSS OF ALL 10 KEYS/DATA

Any authorized customer can obtain a new EWS control module and newly initialized transponder key with current mechanical key code for installation by a BMW dealer.

In the event of the loss of all 10 keys and all recorded data (also contained in the BMW database), the EWS control module and all lock cylinders must be replaced on the vehicle. Here too, parts may only be supplied through the Central Parts Warehouse or the Parts Department of BMW NA. The corresponding documentation is carried out in the BMW database.
