SUBJECT:
Cellular Telephone Data Cable Connector
MODELS:
E34 as of approximately 1/95 production
Situation:
Due to a recent design change on the cellular telephone data cable 25 pin connector X18500, it may not be possible to properly secure this connector to the cellular telephone transceiver because of insufficient length of the connector mounting screws.
Correction:
In order to properly secure the data cable connector to the transceiver, the two connector mounting screws must be replaced.
From a local source procure two 6-32 x 3/4 inch long machine screws and two 6-32 flat washers.
To remove the original knurled head screws, simply hold your fingertip over the captivated spacer while turning the knurled head screw counterclockwise with your other hand.
Repeat this procedure on the other side of the connector. Do not discard the spacers.
In the place of the knurled head screw, fit a 6-32 x 3/4 inch long machine screw with a 6-32 flat washer. Re-secure the captivating spacer as originally installed. Repeat this procedure on the other side of the connector.
You will now have sufficient screw length to properly secure the data cable connector to the telephone transceiver.
You may discard the two knurled head screws.
