This Service Information bulletin supersedes S.I. 32 O2 95 (4198) dated August 1995, which should be removed from your S.l. binder and discarded. It deletes repair procedures that are not necessary on 1995 model year vehicles.
SUBJECT:
Recall 94V-151 - Standardization of Equipment Levels
MODELS:
Certain 1995 318i and 325 Two and Four Door Models
Situation:
Certain early production 1995 Model Year 3 Series vehicles were built to an equipment level that varies from later production vehicles. While these vehicles are in compliance with all applicable safety standards, BMW NA would like to have these vehicles brought up to the same equipment levels as later production vehicles. Therefore, a Recall Campaign will be conducted to perform the necessary modifications, so that all 1995 Model Year 3 Series vehicles are at the same equipment levels.
Vehicles Affected:
This Recall Campaign affects all 1995 318, 318iA, 318is, 318isA, 325i, 325iA, 325is and 325isA vehicles.
In order to determine if a specific vehicle is affected by this Recall Campaign, it will be necessary to utilize the "Service Menu" of the DCS (Dealer Communications System). Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the corrective action or take no further action.
Correction:
Inspect all affected vehicles to determine what portions of the final version of the Recall repair, if any, need to be completed. Complete those items that need to be brought up to the latest standards.
Parts Information:
The parts listed below are those that can be used in the completion of this repair. Depending on the equipment level found in a particular car, it may receive all, some, or none of the parts listed.
Description Part Number
Clamp 32 31 1 093 151
Trim Cover kit 32 31 9 069 141

Recall Campaign Label Instructions:
This Recall Campaign is assigned code number 136. After the vehicle is checked, and corrected if necessary, obtain a label (SD 92-050) and:
a) Emboss your BMW dealer warranty number in the middle of the label (1).
b) Punch out code number 136 printed on the label (2).
c) Affix the label to the B pillar as shown:
If the vehicle already has a label from a previous Service Action/Recall Campaign, affix the label next to the old one. Do not affix one label on top of another one because a number from an underlying label could appear in the punched-out hole of the new label.
Warranty Status:
Reimbursement for this Recall Campaign will be via Campaign Entry.
