Coat all components with specified axle lubricant during assembly.
1. Install side gear diaphragm spring (2) and thrust washer (3), Fig. 12, in case with concave side of spring and thrust washer oil grooves facing up.
2. Install clutch pack diaphragm spring (4) with concave side facing differential shaft, then install outer plate, inner plate and thrust ring.
3. Install side gear, rotating gear as needed to engage guides and splines in inner plate.
4. Install differential pinion assembly and remaining side gear, ensuring components are properly seated.
5. Install thrust ring, inner plate, and outer plate ensuring tabs and splines of plates are properly engaged.
6. Install clutch pack diaphragm spring with concave side facing down.
7. Install side gear diaphragm spring (2) and thrust washer (3), Fig. 12, into cover with concave side of spring and thrust washer oil grooves facing toward inside of case. Use grease to hold spring and thrust washer in position during case installation.
8. Apply thread locking compound to case cover bolts, install case cover and retaining bolts ensuring thrust washer and spring remain in position, then evenly torque to 22-24 ft. lbs. in crossing pattern.
