Wiring Harness: Service and Repair

Replacing wiring harness for automatic transmission

Oil sump removed. Service and Repair





Remove oil strainer. Service and Repair
Pull plugs (1 - 5) off of solenoid valves.

Caution: Pry off plug with a screwdriver.

Do not pull off plug on wires.





Plug type up to Jan. 1997
Support front end of transmission on case.
Remove cross member.
Unscrew nut (6) on plug connection.
Pull out plug connection.





Installation:
Check seal (7).
Install plug connection that flat side faces up.
Tightening Torque: Mechanical Specifications





Plug type from 01.97:
Press locking clamp (1) away from transmission housing and remove.
Press plug housing (2) into transmission housing.





Installation:
Note installation position of receptacle housing (1).





Installation:
Replace O-rings (1) and coat with automatic transmission fluid.





Pull out wire harness through bore in transfer case.
