Shift Linkage: Service and Repair

Replacing cable for gear selector lever





Loosen nut (1).

Caution: Always counterhold bolt with Special Tool 24 5 210 to avoid deformation of the cable.

Note: Special Tool 24 5 210 can be applied only in position P.

Unscrew cable from holder.
Pull out cable.

Installation:
Adjust selector lever, refer to Shift Linkage A/T, Adjustment. Adjustments





Unscrew fillister head screw (3 mm hexagon socket).
Pull off handle with pull rod.

Installation:
Button not pressed.
Engage pin (1) of button in bore (2) of pull rod.





Remove clock or on-board display.
Remove bottom panelling.





Lift out cover for selector lever.
Pull off EGS switch connector (3) and display light (4).





Lift off retainer (5).
Unscrew cable on holder and pull off in forwards direction.
Disconnect cable in eye.





Installation:
Guide turning lock with bore in beads.
Mount cable in this position.
Pull out cable in upwards direction.
