Replacing Radial Sealing Ring For Manual Shift Valve Shaft

Replacing radial sealing ring for manual shift valve shaft (A4S 270R/310R)

Note: Remove transmission underbody protection if necessary.

After completing work, adjust shift mechanism.





Cable clamping up to 8.95:
Unfasten nut (1) in setting "P".

Caution: Always brace bolt with special tool 24 5 210 to avoid deformation of the cable.

Special tool 24 5 210 can only be fitted in position "P".
Installation: Tightening Torque: Mechanical Specifications





Cable clamping from 8.95:
Brace clamping bush (1) and loosen nut (2).

Installation:

Brace cable at hexagon (1), loosen nut (2) and remove cable from brace (3).

Unfasten nut (1) and pull shift lever (2) off manual shift valve shaft.

Installation:
Replace self-locking nut (1).
Tightening Torque: Mechanical Specifications





Screw special tool 24 5 361 into radial sealing ring.





Screw special tool 24 5 362 onto 24 5 361 and tighten to pull radial sealing ring out of transmission housing.





Fit special tool 24 5 365 on the manual shift valve shaft
Moisten sealing lips of radial sealing ring (1) with automatic transmission fluid.
Push radial sealing ring (1) onto manual shift valve shaft and press into transmission housing as far as possible.
Hold radial sealing ring (1) in place and pull special too 24 5 365 off manual shift valve shaft.





Pull radial sealing ring into transmission housing up to stop with special tools 24 5 363 and 24 5 364.
