PURPOSE AND OPERATION
The throttle valve is a two-stage design. Throttle valve diameter is 35 mm for the first stage, and 54 mm for the second stage. The accelerator pedal position governs valve opening for optimum adaptation to engine air requirements. The first to second stage transition point is 22 degrees of throttle opening travel and provides smooth yet sportslike throttle response. The throttle assembly is coolant heated (de-iced) by a contact type heating element held in place by a bracket.
