Intake Air Plenum: Service and Repair

REMOVE AND INSTALL
1. Remove the intake collector sound insulation.

Throttle Cable View:

2. Remove the harness straps and the throttle cable.





3. Remove both cylinder head access covers.

Ignition Coil Locations:

4. Pull electrical connectors from the ignition coils.

Component Locations:

5. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the fuel injectors and air temp. sensor, etc.

Brake Booster Vacuum Pipe Connection:

6. Disconnect the brake booster hose.

EVAP. Hose Connection:

7. Disconnect the charcoal canister hose.

Pressure Regulator Removal:

8. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator.
9. Disconnect the fuel supply and return hose from the fuel rail.

WARNING: Fuel may be under high pressure.

Pressure Regulator Removal:

10. Unscrew the bolts and remove the pressure regulator at the rear of the intake collector.

CAUTION: Failure to remove the pressure regulator will result in damage to the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) pipe at the left of the collector.

Intake Manifold Bolt View:

11. Unscrew the intake collector bolts and remove the collector upwards. Torque to 11 lb.ft. upon reinstallation.
12. Reinstall in reverser manner. Always use new gaskets and seals, and torque to specification.
