This Service Information bulletin supersedes S.I. 11 03 96 dated May 1996

SUBJECT
Crankshaft Main Bearing Cap Bolt Change

MODEL
All with M60 Engines

SITUATION
New crankshaft main bearing cap bolts have been introduced in production since approximately 10/95 on all M60 engines.

M11 torx head bolts are now used instead of the early style M10 hex or torx head type.

These bolts are not interchangeable due to the thread size difference.

A new tightening torque angle is also introduced with the new style bolts as indicated in the chart as shown.

Repair note:
As outlined in the repair manual - group 11, if repairs involving the removal and installation of the crankshaft main bearing cap bolts becomes necessary, new bolts must always be used during reassembly.
