SUBJECT:
Loose/Missing Oil Galley Plugs

MODEL:
All with M6O engine

Situation:
Isolated reports have been received regarding engine oil leaks after the installation of a short block.

The oil galley plugs threaded type (1) or press fit type (2), see illustrations, may not have been sufficiently torqued or may not have been installed at the factory during the short block assembly procedure.

Correction:
To avoid engine oil leaks after a short block replacement always check the oil galley hole locations shown above for the proper installation of all oil galley plugs on the new short block before assembling the engine.

Tightening torque for threaded M16x1.5 oil galley plug (1) = 34 Nm (25 lb ft).

Note:
If a press fit type oil galley plug (2) is missing a new plug should be installed using Loctite(R) 648 retaining compound which is locally available.
