Operation

A console mounted tip switch allows the driver to select either the Auto-
matic or Manual mode. In the Automatic mode with the selector lever in
the "D" position, the shift program favors economy and comfort. When the
selector is placed in position "3", the shifts follow a performance oriented curve.

In the Manual mode, the transmission shifts and stays in the gear selected with the selector lever. As shown by the chart, there is no fourth gear in the manual mode.
