Universal Joint: Service and Repair

(Version With Press-fit Knurled Head Bolts)

- Remove propeller shaft assembly. Service and Repair





- Remove hose straps.





- Lift out circlip.

Installation:
• Replace circlip.





- Pull off constant velocity joint complete with dust cover.





- Press knurled head bolts and washers out of constant velocity joint.





- Press off dust cover.





- Pack new constant velocity joint with 60 grams of grease (HWB).

Note: Don't cant the inner race with cage since the balls would tall out.





- Place gasket on shoulder provided for this purpose.

- Press on dust cover.

Installation:
• Check for correct positioning of bores.





- Press in knurled head bolts with washers.





- Clean splines to remove grease and coat with a bolt cement.

Important! Keep bolt cement out of ball paths.





- Drive constant velocity joint on the propeller shaft with Special Tool 23 1 040.





- Install circlip.

Note: Check for correct and tight fit.





- Install hose clamps on dust cover.
