Dual Airbags/SRS (Airbag) Control Module

All models built as of 9/93 will be equipped with a passenger side airbag in addition to the driver's side airbag as standard equipment.

All '94 Model Year vehicles (except E32) as of 9/93 production will be equipped with a new version of the SRS (Airbag) system. The new system's control module will be called ZAE (Central Activation Module), and will feature integral impact sensors. This control module will have the capability to deploy both driver and front passenger airbags. Future versions (scheduled to begin with 3/94 production) will incorporate a front passenger seat occupancy sensor, which will avoid unnecessary front passenger airbag deployment under certain circumstances.
