SUBJECT:
New BMW Special Tool

Situation:
A new special tool has been developed that allows you to read the scope patterns on M42, M50 and M60 Ignition Coils simultaneously. This aids in the identification of faulty coils through simultaneous comparison.





This tool will be sent out to all dealers via the Automatic Tool Shipment Program. Additional tools may be purchased through your PDC.

Operation Tips

1. When installing the coil adapters, install the metal clip first then slide the plastic tab over until it grabs the other side of the coil.

2. When displaying the patterns on the scope it is helpful to use the 25KV superimposed screen first. This will (in many cases) show a singular irregularity.

3. Page 31 says "Select Test Step 1." It should read "Select Test Program 1 Engine."

4. This tool will only display patterns on the scope. It will not run test step 9.
