Converter Clutch Control Solenoid
This is a normally closed on/off type solenoid located in the front valve body. To eliminate the "kick" felt from load reversals, the torque converter clutch opens in coasting mode. To further reduce the possibility of vibrations being transmitted through the drive-line, a flexible coupling is used between the transmission output flange and driveshaft.
The converter clutch solenoid is also used for reverse gear lock-out protection when reverse is selected above 8-10 km/h (5-6 mph). When the transmission is in the fallsafe operation mode, there is no converter clutch engagement or electronic reverse gear lock-out protection.
