Throttle Plate - PFI: Description and Operation

Throttle Valve:

PURPOSE AND OPERATION
The throttle valve controls the amount of air flowing into the combustion chamber. The driver can regulate the throttle valve opening with the accelerator pedal which is connected via a cable to the throttle valve.
When the throttle valve is closed, the engine will receive only a small amount of air and fuel. Therefore engine power output is very limited. The more the throttle valve is opened, the larger the amount of air and fuel that flows into the combustion chamber, thus increasing engine power output.

The throttle valve is heated (de-iced) by circulating engine coolant.
