Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Testing and Inspection

RESISTANCE TEST
- Disconnect idle speed actuator connector.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals (1 and 2) and (2 and 3) of the idle speed actuator.

Resistance should be approx. 12 Ohms. If resistance is not within specifications, replace idle speed actuator.

- Measure the resistance between terminals (1 and 3) of the idle speed actuator.

Resistance should be approx. 23 Ohms. If resistance is not within specifications, replace idle speed actuator.

DYNAMIC TEST
1. Remove the idle speed actuator (harness connector remains connected).
2. Open or close rotary piston (1) completely.
3. Turn the ignition switch to RUN position.

Rotary piston must move into and remain in a position equal to about 50% cross section opening. Replace the idle speed actuator if the correct response in not obtained.
