VANOS Solenoid Valve

MODELS:
E34 and E36 with M50 TU (VANOS) Engine

Situation:
To reduce the high voltage spikes produced by the VANOS valve during its switching process (energizing/de-energizing the solenoid), a diode is incorporated into the valve's plug connector.

Note:
When checking the VANOS solenoid valve for proper function with special tool 126 410, always ensure that the electrical connections (alligator type clips-red boot B+/black boot B-) are not reversed on the power source being used to avoid damaging the internal diode.
