Checking/Refilling Transmission Oil






Refilling/Checking Oil Level
- Unscrew filler plug (1) on the lower side of the oil pan.

NOTE: Approx. oil change volume 3.0 L (3.2 qts.)
Total oil volume (torque convert drained) 8.8 L (9.1 qts.)





- Car must be unladen and standing on a level surface.
- Hang filler (2) in filler opening.
- Add ATF until it overflows filler plug opening and reinstall filler plug.
- Start engine and run at idle speed in selector lever setting "P" or "N".
- Read off temperature with MoDIC, Service Tester or equivalent equipment.
- With the engine running (idle speed; apply brake), slowly shift up and down all gears in program (winter program)
- With the temperature between 86 and 121°F (30 - 55°C) and shift lever in position "P", remove filler plug and check ATF fluid level. Oil should be level with bottom of fill hole. Add if necessary.

WARNING: If oil temperature is allowed to rise above specified temperature, scalding may occur.

- Screw in and tighten filler plug (1) 25 to 40 Nm (18 to 29 ft lb).

CAUTION: ATF level too high: Strong foaming, loss through splashing, high temperature when driving fast. Fluid loss through vent.

CAUTION: ATF level too low: Valve rattle, foaming, transmission slip. General operating disturbances.
