SUBJECT:
Tinted Primer-Fillers in Engine Compartment and Trunk
MODELS:
E32, E34
Situation:
In order to reduce solvent emissions during the manufacturing process, a tinted primer-filler has been used in the engine compartment and trunks of vehicles produced in Dingolfing since 9193. The use of the tinted primer-filler eliminates the need to paint these areas with a color coat.
Vehicles so manufactured can be identified by the paint label in the engine compartment, which lists two colors.
Note:
Some E36s produced from 8/93 through 11/93 may have had the above type of label installed in production in error. If encountered on cars in this production range, the reference to the primer-filler should be ignored.
Repair Information:
Mixing formulas to match the tinted primer-fillers are listed on the Glasurit 21 Line microfiche dated 4/94. The formulas listed are top coats mixed to duplicate the tinted primer-fillers, and should not be used as primer-fillers.
Color codes are five digit beginning with 10000 and are described as matte All colors require gloss reducing additive # 521-300.
