These instructions apply only when a central locking module II (E36 system) is installed in the 5 Series E34 as of model year 1992.
For description of central locking module II (ZVM II) refer to Central Locking Module II.
In this system, the central locking drive is decoupled internally from the locking linkage when the vehicle system is armed.
If a ZKE general module is installed, perform troubleshooting on the door lock heating system in accordance with Door Lock Heating TSH/ZKE).
Functional Description:
General:
The door lock heating system (TSH) is activated and monitored by the central locking module II (ZVM II). Refer to description of the central locking module II (ZVM II).
The door lock heating is activated by way of a microswitch on the door handle of the driver's door (door handle contact). A heating coil which heats the lock is mounted on the locking cylinder of the driver's door. Power is supplied to the heating coil via an external relay.
Switch-On conditions:
1. Vehicle locked for at least 35 seconds.
2. Lift door handle of driver's door for at least 5 seconds.
The door lock heating switch is on for approx. 35 seconds.
The door lock heating can be activated 3 times within 16 minutes. An inhibit function is then active for 16 minutes. This function can only be reset prematurely by unlocking the vehicle.
Switch-Off Conditions:
1. Automatically after 35 seconds.
2. Vehicle is unlocked.
