SUBJECT:
BMW Remote Control Vehicle Security System

MODELS:
3 Series (E36), 5 Series (E34), 7 Series (E32) - Model Year 1994

General Information:
Installation instructions have been developed for the BMW Remote Control Vehicle Security System for the above-mentioned MY 1994 vehicles. A copy of these instructions are not included.

Those instructions cover procedures for dealer installations in pre-wired vehicle (E36 and E34 vehicles except 540i models) and port installations (540i models produced before 9/93, and all 7 Series).

540i models produced after 9/93, and all 1994 8 Series vehicles, will be equipped with the factory-installed Anti-Theft System (DWA).

1994 vehicles equipped with the BMW Remote Control Vehicle Security System now feature hood protection. The 7 Series vehicles, however, do not include this in the factory pre-wiring. As a result, port-installed security systems in 7-Series vehicles will include an additional wire, running from the single pin black connector of the security system harness to pin 2 of connector X251 of the vehicle harness.

The Hood Protection function of the security system is active approximately 10 seconds after arming the system. The security system control module evaluates the nature and quality of the signal received on this circuit for approximately 10 seconds after being armed, and then incorporates the hood protection circuit into its monitored circuits. For this reason, the hood must be closed and remain closed for at least 10 seconds when the security system is armed.

Parts Information:
Those installation instructions apply to dealer-installed BMW Remote Control Vehicle Security System, P/N 82 11 1 468 243.
