Trouble Code 101 (Downshift Protection)

DOWNSHIFT PROTECTION
Explanation
This defect code is stored when the engine speed is too great for the downshift to be performed by the control unit.

Effect of defect
Mechanical emergency program.

Possible cause
Faults on the Engine Speed Signal-Once Per Revolution (TR) line. Defect in Electronic Transmission Control (EGS) control unit.

Troubleshooting
Check TR signal line from Digital Motor Electronic (DME) control unit to EGS control unit Pin 11.
