PROCEDURE 1

Install knee bolster reinforcement bracket and modify column support.





Remove lower dash trim.





Remove knee bolster and unfasten lower left air duct. (Screw locations indicated)





Unclip and remove relay housing.





Remove forward column attachment bolt and spacer.





Install new, shorter bolt (M8 x 22 Z1) on left side of mounting bracket, and tighten to 21.4 N-m. The nut must be in the position shown.





Install the reinforcement bracket (D for the drivers side inboard knee bolster mount as shown. (The view is from forward and above, to better show the proper position.)

Use M8 x 22 Z1 bolt M to fasten the bracket

Note:
Before reinstalling knee bolster and trim, the steering column slip joint modification shown in Procedure 2 must be completed.
