Starter Does Not Turn, Only Solenoid Clicks

1. Turn on headlamps, then engage starter.
2. If headlamps go out, battery is defective or there is a short circuit in the starter motor.
3. If lamps stay on, carbon brushes are worn or the solenoid switch is defective.
